the email notification is really the only reason we ask people to include one.

We also ask users to include them so we know if any files are missing. WAV MD5 files are just ignored completely.

As for email notification, I can probably sit down with the script and make that work. FLAC's -t option is pretty obnoxious. When I have a chance, I'll sit down and work on this.

On another note: we plan to be making our own MD5s of everything as a means of preventing bit rot (i.e. data deterioration), as well as SHA-1s, for integration with other standards groups (such as Creative Commons). These checksums will be used internally to verify the integrity of files and recover faulty bits when necessary.

That's right, I left that out, thanks Jon. Is there any chance we can get similar results using the Fingerprint file instead?
